Zac Culbertson, originally from Cochranton, PA, is a graduate of Clarion University and an agent with Bush Insurance. He's also an active member of the YEP Member & Business Engagement Committee. Zac recently proposed to his girlfriend and she said YES! Congrats, Zac!
We asked Zac about working, living, and playing in Erie as a young professional.
YEP: How did you end up in the insurance industry?
ZC: Honestly, I never thought I'd work in the Insurance world. I was working at Enterprise Rent-a-Car when one of the owners of the agency asked if I would like to interview. A few weeks later I tested and became an agent. I love the opportunity to help people save money and make sure they are informed about what they're purchasing. Transparency and getting people what they need to protect their homes and autos is rewarding, especially when they save money going through us.
YEP: Besides YEP, what are other ways you connect with Erie and other Young Professionals?
ZC: – I've lived in and around the Erie area most of my life. As a family, we'd hit the mall most weekends or I'd find a place to play basketball like the Sports Park or a local golf course. Just being in and around different types of industries have really given me the opportunity to grow as a person and meet new people to learn from.
YEP: Why YEP? What do you gain from your membership?
ZC: I chose YEP to get plugged into the Erie area. That's a simple answer but if you don't get into groups and fellowship with people your age or your mindset, you get stuck in the same routine and the same people and you'll never grow. That's by far the best benefit -- meeting new people and getting to know others in and around the community.
YEP: Tell us what a perfect Erie day would look like for you?
ZC: It would start with a workout at either Iron Oxygen or Erie Fitness Academy, followed by a wine tour in North East. Next, I would head to the Bayfront, out on Beach 6, and the trails around the Isle. My girlfriend and I with our dogs Theo and Benji tossing the ball around walking through the sand, then loading up and hitting Sara's for a shake and fries and doggy dishes. Then, to cap it off, you have to hit a local spot like Donato's or Voodoo for some pizza. There are so many things to do though this doesn't even scratch the surface.
