All yep! Members are invited to be a Member for a Day at Lake Shore Country Club on Thursday June 7th! Come out and enjoy 9-holes of golf with cart for only $20. A shotgun start will begin at 2:30pm.

If you can't find the time to golf, we hope to see you afterwards at our June Social Hour on LSCC's East Patio from 5:30p – 7:30p. Happy hour will include light hors d’oeuvres, lawn games like cornhole and bocce and special drink pricing. Tours of Lake Shore and Special Membership Offers will also be available.

You may choose to attend one or both parts of this event. Please make your golf reservations by Monday June 4th by calling Tony Viglione at 833.0894 e113.

Lake Shore Country Club is located at 5950 Lake Shore Drive, off of Route 5 in Fairview.

Women With a View Panel Recap

Last month while many in Erie were enjoying the unseasonably warm March weather, yep! members were busy enjoying the rare opportunity to rub elbows with some of Erie’s most successful women professionals

The “Women with a View” panel discussion was graciously hosted at The Barber National Institute by Bridget Barber, Director of External Affairs. Yep! members in attendance mingled with community leaders such as: Marcia Haller, partner at MacDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton, and the first female attorney in Erie; Stephanie Potus-Eaker, proprietor of The Summerhouse Café; Gay Marie Catania, past President of the Women’s Roundtable and a self-employed HR management consultant; and Dr. Maureen Barber-Carey, Executive Vice President of The Barber National Institute.

Kathy Dahlkemper, former U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania’s Third Congressional District, gave the opening remarks for the evening, which were followed by a series of questions from the yep! moderators. The questions focused on the progression of these women’s careers, from starting out as lowly peons to eventually excelling to the upper echelons of management. A recurring, and rather surprising, theme throughout the evening was the unanimous sense of uninhibited equal opportunities these women had throughout their careers. None of the panelists felt that they had been victims of gender discrimination or inequality—on the contrary, they were grateful for the opportunities they created for themselves with sheer motivation and ingenuity. It was clear that no one had asked for, nor accepted, any piggyback rides—these were all self-made women, and they were certainly proud to share their stories.

These factors that fashioned the panelists into the successful women they are today were incorporated in their message to the yep! members in the audience, both men and women alike. When asked to give the yep! members advice, the panelists recommended a do-it-yourself approach. The most common criticism of our generation was our sense of entitlement and our expectation of handouts when we decide something is too difficult after five minutes of minimal effort. These women got where they are today because they had no intention of depending on anyone else to do the job for them. They are simply smart, motivated, productive women who worked tirelessly to prove they have what it takes to run an organization. The panelists encouraged all yep! members to adopt the same attitude and were convinced that if it was combined with some brains and a vision, we could all be walking in their footsteps someday. I think we’re all well on our way, but one thing is for sure—we have some big shoes to fill!

10 Year Anniversary Celebration of yep!

This is a big one! We can't believe it either. Everyone will be at Calamari's to celebrate this milestone at the same place it all started. It's going to be a a yep! fiesta like you've never seen before! So mark your calendars for this special day. We'll need your help to blow out the candles.

Appetizers and drink specials will be provided by Calamari's with live acoustic entertainment by Doug Phillips, Business Card Give-a-Ways, and of course the event wouldn't be complete without a "birthday" cake to celebrate generously provided by Ye Olde Sweet Shoppe!

This event is also our May yep! Social Hour, so please feel free to pass the word along to anyone who has been inquiring about yep! and what we have to offer. All are welcome to join in the celebration and anyone wanting to join yep! at the event will be able to.

Owen vs Bizzarro

yep! feels it's important for our members to be in tune with the local politics that affect our daily lives. We also encourage our members to consider the impact they could have through public service. But running for office is not the only way you can get involved; as you can volunteer with a campaign, register your friends to vote, or simply brush up on the issues playing out in our local political arena.

Two fine examples of young professionals getting involved in politics are yep! members Jason Owen and Ryan Bizzarro. After winning his Republican Primary, Jason will now square off against Ryan, who was unopposed in his primary, for PA State Representative in the 3rd district.

yep! is excited to have two young candidates in the same race. No matter the outcome, yep! will have a voice in Harrisburg. We wish them both luck in what will surely be a tight contest.

The yep! Civic Engagement Committe invites you for a night of, well, Civic Engagement! Join us for our yep! Meet the Candidates Night on Friday, April 13th, form 5:30 to 7:00 at the Bayfront Convention Center. Meet the Candidates will provide you with the opportunity to brush shoulders and ask questions of our areas political hopefuls! This event is free and open to the public.

Candidates who have not signed up should do so prior to April 11th. A $50 donation is requested from all campaigns.

What's yep! Club Night? Well, yep! Club Night is your one-stop shop for finding like-minded groups you might be interested in joining! Whether sports related, social, or philanthropic, we'll have such an amazing variety of different organizations on hand that one of them will surely fit your style. From the Erie Runners Club to the Erie Sailing Club to the Erie Rugby Club or the Erie Club and the Non-Profit Partnership, there will surely be a Club on hand that you'll be interested in joining. So get off of your couch, get on on your feet, and get to yep! Club Night! Now's your chance to get involved!

Over two dozen clubs and organizations will be present to provide information and let you know how to get involved with their organizations.

Where: 8425 Peach Street (Just South of Robison Road on the left)
When: Thursday, May 17th through Sunday, May 20th

First shift any evening: 5:15pm-8:30pm
Second shift any evening: 7:45pm-11:15pm

Needed:

Volunteers to answer phones and take bids
Volunteers to sort paper bids to determine a winner
Volunteers to call back official winners

Bring your friends, bring your family, to the 56th Annual Presque Isle Spring Clean-up on April 21! Be among the hundreds of volunteers descending on Presque Isle from 9 am to noon to clean-up Erie's beautiful beaches!

yep! Golf League

The yep! Golf League is set to begin on May 2nd. The 17 week league will once again be held at Erie Golf Course on Wednesday evenings. The price is $265 for yep! members and includes your prepaid green fees and carts for the 17 weeks. There will be teams of two battling for the trophy that will be earned at the end of the season. March Social Hour - Watson-Curtze Mansion - March 8th

On March 8th, come learn about a fantastic historical part of our city as well as upcoming exciting events that the Historical Society has in the near future at our March Social Hour being held at the breathtaking Watson-Curtze Mansion, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which is located along Erie's "Millionaire's Row".

We will also be partnering with the Erie Philharmonic and their Orchestras Feeding America Food Drive, so if you were unable to donate last time, here's another chance! Anyone donating at this event will receive a BOGO voucher for one of the Phil's Symphonic Series performance!

Guests in attendance will be treated to light appetizers and complimentary beer, wine and soft drinks. This networking event is open to non yep! members as well.
